About Pawdget

Pawdget answers one question: what does a dog of a given breed actually cost to keep, in your state? Not a national range copied from one page to the next — a figure built up from calories, dosing bands, vet price surveys, the government's regional price index and retail prices we recorded ourselves.

It is a data tool, not a blog. Every number carries a source and the date we last checked it; formula-based figures are labelled as estimates and the formulas are public on the methodology page. Breed pages are published only when every required field has a source. When we lack data — for example, treatment costs of specific conditions — the section says so instead of quoting a guess.

Who is behind it

Igor Zagorodnyi builds data-driven web tools, including cost-of-living and calculator sites. Pawdget grew out of the same approach applied to pet ownership: publish the model, show the inputs, let people adjust them.

Corrections

Found a figure that looks wrong or a source that has been updated? Write to [email protected]. Corrections are applied to the dataset, so every page that uses the figure updates at once.

Pawdget is not a veterinary service. Nothing here is veterinary, medical or financial advice.
